Should Beckham have been included in the squad?

Well according to Cesc Fabregas, the answer is a resounding “yes”. In an interview with Sky Sports, he’s quoted as saying :

"It’s a shame you know because he’s been training with us for a month now, he’s been working hard and it’s a shame."

Cesc goes on to talk about the respect that he should have been shown and how he should have had the opportunity to reach the 100.

Even Wenger’s impressed with the way Beckham’s been training and feels that not only does he deserve his 100th cap, but England need him!

Personally I’d like to see Beckham play for England at least one more time. Fabio Capello obviously needs to build a team that can compete in the next world cup, and he’s got to start that at some point, but the game against Switzerland is a friendly, so how long would Beckham actually have to be on the pitch to reach the 100?

On his last recall to the squad, the crowd gave David such a great welcome back.

I can just picture the standing ovation he’d have received, had he been given the opportunity to play.

So, I think this is the wrong decision by Capello, he needs to get the English on his side from the off!

Of course it is the wrong decision. Beckham is a great servant and fantastic player for England, who truly deserves 100 caps and more. What a sad situation that England has to have an Italian to manage the team , one that has decided to deny the fans an opportunity to watch thier national hero reach his milestone at home. Many of whom have purchased tickets to the match for that very reason.
