England : Are they motivated and well managed?

A moment of magic from Andres Iniesta resulted in Luis Aragones's side winning one nil to Steve McClarens weary looking England. After a series of bad results for McClarens side (including a nil-nil draw to Macedonia, a two nil defeat to Croatia and the most recent defeat to Spain) the question has to be asked - With such a talented England squad, why aren’t we getting the results?

In my opinion I think there are several problems. Firstly the manager is not doing his job. His role being to initially get England the results they need to be successful and to keep the thousands of fans happy. But he also needs to motivate his players so they put in the effort and dedication to win the games.

This is where the second problem comes into play. Are the players passionate and motivated enough to get results for England. I don't think so!

Your John Terrys, Steven Gerrards and Frank lampards are becoming too confident in there place in the England side, that they are not working hard enough to show that they earn the right to be in the team.

Having said that, players who are not regular starters for England, such as Shaun Wright Phillips, Jonathan Woodgate and Kieron Dyer showed the same sort of effort and dedication that the formerly mentioned superstars put in. Which I think is frankly shameful.

This could be down to Steve McClaren not motivating the players enough, yet the players must take some responsibility for their performance.

I could blabber on for ever critising Englands boring performances. The lack of quality in their game and the poor tactics (being the route one style football, hoofing the ball long to Peter Crouch), but I think all these problems come down to poor management (Steve McClaren).

I am starting to think Sven-Goran Eriksson did well considering the teams performance under McClaren.
