England v Andorra – It looked like a training game

Now I like Andorra. Tax free shopping, great skiing, particularly if you’re a beginner like me. But as a football nation, well that’s a different matter.

Andorra having only being playing at an international level for 10 years, (England one hundred and something), a country with a population that would fit into Old Trafford, part-time players with full time occupations, their expectations had to be low.

The game went pretty much as I thought. For England it looked like a training match, the defence never troubled, Robinson can’t have had more than a couple of touches of the ball. England had plenty of chances and in the first half it looked like they could reach double figures.

Good goals from Crouch, Gerrard and Defoe. Chelsea’s Cole (sorry couldn’t resist) had a good game, getting in behind Andorra’s defence on a few occasions.

For me the man of the match had to be Owen Hargreaves. Whilst he didn’t score, he had a couple of shots that hit the bar, he generally had a great game.

Next match Macedonia on the 6th, lets hope that England play at least as well. It won’t be such a walk-over !
