Brazil vs Argentina – Great stadium, great match, shame about the ads !

I might have moaned about the Gunners website, but I have to say the Emirates stadium looks impressive from wherever you view it !

The atmosphere inside was terrific, not many Argentinean supporters, plenty of Brazilians, though you might have thought Arsenal were playing. Firstly because the mascots where all wearing Arsenal kits and secondly the crowd chanting “Stand up if you hate Tottenham”. Though there was the obligatory “Mexican wave”.

From the outset it looked like Brazil were going on the rampage with the early goal from Elano, but as the game settled Argentina had more than a few opportunities, but they didn’t capitalise on them. In the first half Brazil could have made more of Daniel Carvalho and Gilberto who had plenty of space out on the left. Together they troubled the Argentines, and created a few chances.

In the second half Kaka took over from Carvalho with huge cheers for the Brazilians. He soon made his mark. His solo run from inside his own half in the last minute of the game, was outstanding, sealing the match with a 3 nil win.

If I had any criticism it wouldn’t be of the game but of the electronic advertising that appears around the ground. How could Arsenal take money to promote the launch of Wayne Rooney’s book “My story so far” ?

Very simple - To go towards paying for that lovely new stadium you like. When you are not far off £300M in debt, you need to take the money, wherever it comes from.

Besides, it wasn't an Arsenal match, so it's no different to ads that would be seen at Wembley (if it was finished) etc.

The event organizers (those companies that represent Brazil and Argentina) sold the advertising.

You remember times when there was no advertising at Arsenal? Then do you also remember the number of players who were incompetent? 53-69 we won nothing. no leagues from 71-89. Theres no point pining for the past.
