Chelsea's "Special one" has left!

Posted by Martin in Chelsea, Jose Mourinho | 20 September 2007

So the statement from Chelsea HQ goes "Chelsea football club and Jose Mourinho have agreed to part company today by mutual consent", and that's it, Mourinho has gone!

So if you're a Chelsea fan I can only imagine how you must feel. Gutted, and rightly so.

He's turned the club around (along with the Abramovich billions) in just three years. Winning the Carling cup twice, the premiership twice and the FA cup once. And that dream prize of the Champions league is now just that, a dream!

I don't think he's ever lost a home match in the premiership since he took over.

From what we read in the media, we know that Mourinho and Abramovich have had a somewhat stormy relationship. But it sounds like Abramovich wanted to try his hand at Mourinho's job and was dabbling, when he should have left Jose to get on with what he was paid to do. I can see why Mourinho would find that an un-acceptable situation to be in.

So anyway, where does that leave Chelsea?

They've not had a great start to the season so far, but it's early days. With this added turmoil, it's not going to help motivate the players and things could get worse before they improve.

Good news for the other top clubs though!
