Bayern Inch Closer To The Bundesliga Title

Three games left to go till the end of the season and judging by the media in Germany, it seems as though everyone has pretty much agreed that the question of who will end up as league champions has been decided. A red-hot Leverkusen look to have spoilt any chance of a proper title challenge from Hamburg with a 2-0 away win. Bayer rode their luck somewhat, as Butt pulled off several crucial saves allowing, a second goal to seal Hamburg's fate.
It could've really been decided properly though, if Mainz hadn't pulled off what might be regarded as a shock result and drawn 2-2 with Bayern. With the Bayern-Frankfurt cup final this weekend, the next games take place on Tuesday and Wednesday. The pressure is on Hamburg; anything less than a win for them and three points for Bayern means that the title will stay in Munich.
Mainz's point was useful as Cologne and 'Lautern both won. With 4 points separating 15th from 17th, now isn't the time to make any errors. Unfortunately for Cologne their next game is against Hamburg.
Leverkusen's late charge hasn't been for nothing either. Stuttgart and Hertha continued their end of season dithering and only Berlin still have the chance to grab the last UEFA Cup spot back from Bayer. And guess which two teams are playing each other next Tuesday? Either way, they'll be joining Schalke who play tonight for a spot in the UEFA Cup final.
