Perth Glory were the surprising big winners at last night's end of season awards.

Striker Bobby Despotovski won the Johnny Warren medal for Player of the Year, ahead of favourite Dwight Yorke. Team mate Nicky Ward, recently on trial at Leicester City, was the choice for the Hyundai Rising Star award, and the Glory also picked up the Fair Play award.

Four players shared the Golden Boot for top scorers, with Despotovski, Stewart Petrie (Central Coast Mariners), Alex Brosque (Queensland Roar) and Archie Thompson (Melbourne Victory) all scoring 7 times in the home and away season.

Lawrie McKinna of the Central Coast Mariners was coach of the year, whilst Champions Sydney FC and Minor Premier Adelaide United both going home empty handed, testiment maybe to thier even team performances.
