Adshead quits NZ, Littbarski stays at Sydney

John Adshead has resigned as manager of New Zealand Knights. Last seasons cellar dwellers were shocked by the out of the blue announcement. Adshead plans to retire from all football for personal reasons.
The English born coach, who guided New Zealand to the 1982 World Cup finals in Spain, was cleared of prostate cancer earlier this year but the illness clearly took its toll during a tumultuous season. Former Fulham coach Paul Nevin, recently appointed as head coach, has been placed in temporary charge as the Knights join Perth in looking for a new manager.
Meanwhile, Sydney has announced that Pierre Littbarski will remain as manager for another year. There has been much speculation that Littbarski would not return to the champions but the two parties have now agreed an in principal deal that Littbarski is expected to sign on his return from Japan in early May.
