Blatter wants MORE cards in the World Cup!

A couple of days ago I wrote a mickey-take about refereeing in this year's tournament, suggesting FIFA were unhappy with the referee at the Swiis-Ukraine game as he didn't produce enough cards.

The article was meant to be ridiculous and far beyond the realms of reality.

Then this morning I read an article on Teamtalk about Graham Poll being sent home from Germany (no surprises there) which contained the following line;

Blatter has claimed the match officials have been inconsistent and that tackles from behind and violent conduct has gone unpunished.

So never miund the fact that several games have been completely ruined because referees have been following FIFA's briefings that almost any tackle seems worthy of a yellow card, all Septic Bladder is interested in is the opportunities they've missed for more bookings.

Of course refs miss some tackles, some foul play. They're only human. But someone in Sepp's position should be looking at the big picture - has the refereeing in this tournament helped the games flow, ensured the rules are applied sensibly and the best football possible can be played?

No it hasn't, and that's down to FIFA's misguided priorities as much as individual referees.
