McClaren's England get it Wright!

Posted by Martin in EURO 2008, England, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Steve McClaren | 9 September 2007

I guess like the rest of the nation, I was un-sure whether McClaren could pull it off against Israel, particularly given the number of regulars that were missing from the team.

But credit where credit's due, McClaren did us proud, pulled together a team (not just individuals) and the result speaks for itself.

The highlight for me was seeing Shaun Wright-Phillips put in a performance which could result in Beckham being left out of the starting line out in the future. He gave 110% and rarely made a mistake.

As to the rest of the team, I enjoyed watching Richards, his work rate was terrific, the two Coles worked together well, with Joe making a key contributions to the score line. As for the goal from Owen, well I look forward to him replicating it.

So overall and excellent performance, well done McClaren, please keep it up!
