Wigan's Jewell in hot water over Crowd Bashing

Our manager Paul Jewell's attempts to unite the town of Wigan by slating our stay-away fans seems to have backfired. Instead of motivating the ones who go, he seems to have alienated himself. It seems he has gone a step too far this time.

Throughout his time at Wigan, Jewell has on numerous occasions had a go at the Wigan public for failing to support the football club.

However, his latest attempt, although not aimed at the fans who turn up to games, has blown up in his face, with many Wigan fans enraged that Jewell has gone public with his discontent. One fan told me it felt 'embarassing.' And in a way it is.

Don't get me wrong, i agree with Jewell's comments. However what he fails to realise is that the hefty hike in prices has severely hit crowds. It's no coincidence that the club lower ticket prices for Chelsea and that game is now near to sell out.

It's easy for Premiership players and managers to tell us to pay to watch a live match, but after watching the attrocity which was Wigan v Sheffield United today, i can tell you it was not worth the £25 admission price.

Simply put, if you want more fans do two things.

Firstly, lower ticket prices next season to something reasonable.

And secondly, play attractive, entertaining football.
