Wigan to aid old boss Bruce?

It's a difficult situation to be in for Wigan fans. No-one would ever want to see their team lose, but the general feeling is that out of Birmingham and Portsmouth to go down, most Wigan fans would love to see the demise of Birmingham. That isn't because of their team, but because of ex Wigan managers Steve Bruce and John Benson who are currently employed by the Birmingham outfit.

Despite preferring Portsmouth to stay up i still hope to see Wigan pick up back to back home victories to end the home campaign with a bang. 5,500 travelling Pompey fans will make for a brilliant atmosphere as the game nears a sell out, a fitting tribute to the boys in Wigan blue who have helped turn Wigan into a top ten team.

One man who will be especially dissapointed on Saturday will be Arjan De Zeeuw. One of the key reasons for Wigan's success this season, the dutchman can't play agaisnt his former team due to a broken collar bone.

Other team news for Wigan, and the big question is who replacesJimmy Bullard in the centre, the charismatic midfield dynamo looks to hae played his last game for Wigan after news broke today of a possible move to Fulham (more on Bullard in my next article). Andreas Johansson, Reto Ziegler and David Thompson can all stake claims for a start as the attacking midfielder, whilst Damien Francis, linked with Cardiff this week could be re-called if passed fit.

Portsmouth have a fully fit squad, with only LuaLua being the only slight doubt. Hopefully he will miss out!

As for result, i've yet to go for a Wigan defeat, going with my heart instead of my head (that will have to change next week!), but hopefully Pompey will be desperate to win and thus leave gaps for our speedy players to manipulate

Ill go for a 2-1 Wigan victory, with Roberts scorign against his former club. Benjani to score his first Pompey goal as well, as that would be typical Wigan!

I'm predicting a belting game, five goals and hopefully a sneaky Latics win.

I'm also hoping to see Benson and Bruce sobbing into their hankies next weekend.
