The more observative of football fans would have noticed that Wigan's 1-0 victory was their eighth away victory of the season, which is only bettered by Manchester United and Chelsea who have both won ten apiece.

Now for any team in the Premiership to win eight away games is a massive achievement and its an even bigger jewll200x300charlton.jpg
one for a newly promoted club, most promoted clubs are lucky to win eight all season! Our away form has been alot better than our home, we have won six at home, still a good record for a promoted clu. But that has been the case ever since Jewell took over the helm.

This of course is down to a few reasons, firstly Wigan can play without fear away from home, and love to play on the break. And so, especially in the Premiership, when teams come out and attack us, we are at our most deadly. Another reason would be that at home, teams have played a defensive game against us meaning that we have had to come out and attack them.

Back to Saturday however, the victory over Man City was the most significant to date. Although the game itself was of poor quality from both sides on the whole, we beat one of our main rivals for a European spot and in turn probably ruled them out.

And who would have thought at the beginning of this season that i'd be saying that!

Told you we were making history........
