Saturday's match in Sheffield is not what Newcastle need

Our current predicament is actually slightly worrying - just 7 points clear of the relegation zone with Chelsea and Arsenal still to play, and looking like a team capable of beating very few Premiership outfits. Against both Charlton and Man City we were unable to create chances, let alone take them, which is mind-blowing given the calibre of attacking players we are lucky enough to have.

Our next game is on Saturday against Sheffield United, a fixture I am somewhat worried about. Taking form like ours in to an away game against a team that will be very much up for it and desperate for a win inspires me with nothing but fear, and it is a game that unless something drastic happens within our camp I can see us losing. I'm not all doom and gloom mind; I'm fully aware of the quality we have at our disposal, and as soon as Roeder and the players themselves decide to get going we should pick up a few more wins this season. At the moment however there is no doubt something, or probably a few things, are missing.

I'd also like so see Gooch played with Taylor at the back. I think his form, and Moore's lack of games justifies this at this time. Onyewu also has only a few games to win himself a contract with the club for next season; he will need to be given time on the pitch if he is to prove himself.

Duff and Dyer also need to start having some sort of impact. I've been disappointed with their performances in recent weeks (and to an extent over the whole season) and it is time players of their quality pull their finger out and start to make things happen for us, because at the moment we are not breaking through teams, even the likes of Charlton and co.

I hope next Saturday my worries are put at ease, but a loss to Sheffield will really drag us closer to the relegation dogfight, somewhere we really do not want to be during the run in of the season.
