Newcastle injury update

After missing his second home game in a row, Shearer looks set to return to the fold for the Bolton game next Saturday. Striker partner Owen, who suffered a broken foot away at Tottenham could ironically make his return against the same club when we play them at home on April Fool's Day.

Our defence however is stretched, with Babayaro suspended, Bramble our with a hamstring injury, and long term injuries to Steven Taylor and Steve Carr who have problems with shoulder and hernia respectively. On a more positive note, invisible man Craig Moore is apparently set to play some part in the reserve game on Monday, in a bid to return and play a game for his employees. Last time, and the only time in fact, he was seen in a black and white shirt was at home to Yeading pre-season, where he scored a header.

With the exception of Dyer, our midfield is at full strength. Dyer's latest setback is supposedly going to keep him on the sidelines for two further weeks, but Roeder has sounded positive about it and is sure he will make yet another comeback.

Things could change of course by Saturday with internationals in the week, although we do not have a single player representing us for England when they face Uruguay on Wednesday.
