Kev's Player Ratings - Southampton FA Cup 5th Round (h)
Posted by Kev in Newcastle | 19 February 2006
Shay Given - 8 If it hadn't have been for the Irish international we could have found ourselves a couple of goals down in the early stages of the second half.
Peter Ramage - 7 Another steady performance, direct when attacking down the right flank, his crosses lack quality though. Decent performance however.
Titus Bramble - 9 Looks a different player since the departure of Souey, Brilliant performance and saved his partner at the back of the defence.
Jean Alain Boumsong - 7 Apart from one panic clearance which nearly led to a Southampton goal, did pretty well.
Robbie Elliot - 7 Fairly decent performance from the veteran left-back. No real complaints.
Nolberto Solano - 9 Showed why he is in high regard with the Toon faithful. Absolutely brilliant, worked well with Kieron Dyer.
Scott Parker - 8 Captain for the day battled till the end, and his determination and work rate was second to none. An outstanding asset to the club.
Belozoglu Emre - 8 Lets hope rumours of him going back to the Italy have no foundation. Composed on the ball and creative in everything he did.
Charles N'Zogbia - 8 His pace and skill is enough to trouble any full-back. He was direct in his attacking and is proving his worth tremendously.
Kieron Dyer - 9.5 For his first start in nearly half a year, he was a breath of fresh air. With performances like that every week, a certain pick for the World Cup squad. Class
Shola Ameobi - 6.5 Frustrating performance, in which he liked to foul a lot (no surprise). Went back a step after his brilliant performance at Southampton.
Subs
Albert Luque - 6 Apart from a thoughtful free kick which nearly caught out make-shift goalkeeper come centre forward Dexter Blackstock, failed to impress.
Lee Bowyer - 6 Never really made an impression.
