Even a Joke Down Under!

An interesting piece from our associate writing for the Australian A - League blog: A-League of their own in which it seems the world has another Newcastle United - Queensland Roar described as the 'antipodean version of Newcastle.' Jasper Reed, writer for the A-League dedicated page, went on to put the Toon and Queensland in the same bracket, concluding both teams were under-achievers, had bad managers, yet had the best support and stadiums in their respective leagues.
However, I think we have got rid of the 'Bad Manager' situation since the departure of gloomy Graeme Souness, with Wor' Glen taking over and injecting life and hope into our success-starved bodies. Now, if people as far as Aussie can see us as being what seems inferior to success, imagine what the clubs of England must be thinking. A big club - little to show for it. Can you name a club as big as Newcastle United who haven't won a trophy for some 40 years now? I struggle to think of anyone as big as us who hasn't won a trophy for 15 years never mind 40!
This is the time when Mr Shepherd, chairman of the Toon Army, needs to make the right choice and listen to the fans. I'd bet my last penny there wasn't a fan on Tyneside who even thought of Souey after the dismissal of Sir Bobby Robson in 2004, nothing surprises me anymore though.
It's time to be UNITED, something we have been showing recently, with the pre-match huddle and seemingly good spirit within the camp, with the exception of a certain Spaniard of course. It's never a smooth ride for a fan of Newcastle United Football Club.
