Action overview

The Premier League featured the 4 teams who are now directly above Newcastle today.

Everton will be hoping they can perform as they did throughout last season as snatch a UEFA cup spot, as they beat Fulham 3-1 today. They are now 1 point ahead of us having played one game more, however our game in hand tomorrow is of course at Old Trafford, hardly guaranteed points.

West Ham got smashed by Bolton at the Reebok today, although the optimists will have been hoping for a draw with a view to catching Bolton in the league, who overtook Arsenal today and now lie in 6th.

Wigan beat neighbours sunderland today 2-0, leaving the Latics 4 points ahead of ourselves.

Blackburn also launched up the table with a 2-0 win at home to Villa (who are now 2 places below us) leaving them in the dizzy heights of 5th, Craig Bellamy getting a goal for Rovers.

Despite some of these teams losing, the gap between Newcastle and teams like Blackburn and Bolton is ever increasing. A welcome 3 points tomorrow would do us a world of good, and at least a point would keep Roeder's unbeaten run going.

In action tomorrow are Charlton and Boro who play at the Valley, but I think most of our fans are trying to look upwards at the moment!
