Chelsea Luck Lost in a rising Red Tide as Man United Stroll on!

Watching Chelsea last night showed why United are top of the League and deservedly so. Villa under Martin ONeill especially at home have proven a hard nut to crack but to boast only two shots on target all game suggests that Chelseas luck at taking pot shots from outside the box will not always work for them. Premiership teams are beginning to realise that this once impenetrable force are becoming tattered at the seams.
At the start of the 2005-06 season, Mourinhos Blue marauders embarked on the rise of their narrow plucky but lucky string of victories with Crespo striking a scorcher against Wigan who ultimately deserved at least a point from their first premiership outing. This season already, Chelsea have scraped out of many close encounters with more points than they should have, for instance, against Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton and Wigan to name but a few and all culminating from pot shots from outside the penalty area. During the last three games this run of luck seems to have been found wanting and is it surprising when so many of Chelseas important goals this season have been from outside the penalty area. Chelsea are not as capable as Manchester United, Arsenal or Liverpool for that matter at unlocking defences to create easier opportunities it seems. Their clinical distance shooting cannot continue to save them for another season.
With Manchester United still scoring at will and now Arsenal and Liverpool finally beginning to rev their engines, the second half of this premiership season looks like being more interesting than people were, and still are, assuming. If United can continue to pierce defences as regularly as they have been then the title looks destined to have the devilish red and white ribbons on it once more. The signs are looking rosy for Fergie to increase his trophy cabinet at Old Trafford yet again. With the introduction of Larsson looming and being able to call upon Solskjaer, Park and now Rossi, Fergie seems to have fattened what originally looked an anorexic squad. All eyes will be on Mourinho and what his brewsters millions will conjure up in the January transfer Window. He needs a Cantona type of acquisition to stimulate his multi talented, although somewhat overpaid, squad into performing. We wait to see?

Every team has a bad run every season.
Arsenal and Liverpool have had their bad time - although you could argue Liverpool are still having theirs.
Chelsea haven't been playing well for a while but have been getting draws not losses, which is why they are second.
But United have yet to have a bad spell and that's what could make this season interesting.
At the moment they look invincible, but that can quickly disappear. The gap between United and Chelsea isn't large. Two losses for United and all their beautiful football will be for nothing - they'll be on the same points as scrappy Chelsea.
Don't talk crap. If anyone looks likely to drop points it's Chelski!
Cheers Red Tom, I do think that Chelski will be skiing off a slippery anfield turf and back to our countries capital after this weekend, with their heads between their tails. They'll find it hard against a very dogged and damaged ego which is Liverpool FC after their devastating defeats to Arsenal. I can't see the Red devils doing quite as badly as Liverpool have against the gunners, can't wait for this weekend!!!!!
Glad to see my observation about Chelsea scoring all their goals from outside the box has been stretched out to a whole article. However don't they always say that it's the sign of the champions that they still win games even when playing badly - as you point out that Chelsea have this season. Given that Chelsea haven't fired yet this season Utd should be more than 6 points ahead, especially when they've still got to play away at Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and the mighty City (penultimate game of the season - when we deny them the title - oh the beauty of it all).
I think you'll find that the article is not just about pot shots El_Leach or should I call you Marcos from El_dorado but about their inability to truly penetrate an opposing teams penalty area and lack of easy opportunites. That along with squad issues amongst other things. Still I appreciate your point Leach but it was observed by both our antennas!
