Liverpool FC: An indifferent start to the season???

The initial waves of pre-season excitement seem to be dying down now, and characteristically the ‘doom and gloom’ mongers seem to be turning up again. It has been part and parcel of a Liverpool fans lot in recent years to go through each season in cycles; from Unrealistic optimism to utter disappointment and despair and then back again.

Mark my words; worry not my fellow Reds this year will be different. The squad we watched grow in pre-season is still as strong as it ever was. Our boasts are still as valid now as they were then. Don’t lose faith because of a slow start or because the depths of our new squad are being tested before we could have expected it too. It will not be found wonting!

We’ve not looked a title challenging side, but we don’t follow the fickle media. Only a few short weeks ago papers were heard crying the title was ours. One draw and a few adequate European results later and they’ve gone quiet!

We know better!

Keep strong your resolve my fellow Reds, the slow start -while not ideal- was not unexpected! Lots of new faces, some only returning now have lead to this new living, breathing Liverpool team to start a little lethargically this year. The sleeping giant has taken its first faltering steps after a 16 year rest, and who are we to complain that it’s a little stiff!

This weekend will see the beginning of a change! On the centenary of our blessed Kop the infamous 12th man will roar and a spark will ignite in the heart of this slowly awakening beast. Just watch it rise to its haunches in the fortnight that follows and prepare to leap forwards to what will be our greatest season for years!

Couldnt agree more; we havent lost any players from last year who I would call 'influencial' and Rafa is building a squad capable of competing if the mighty Gerrard is rested or, dont say it, injured. We have added quality in all areas (plus Kewell to come back as well) and by Xmas, we will be firing on all cylinders, with goals flying in from all angles!

If Crouch, Kuyt and Bellamy can get at least 15 goals each, thats already 45 goals. I can see Fowler getting around 10 and Rafa wants Pennant to get into double figures as well so thats 65 goals from just 5 players. Adding Gerrard into the mix and we will score 80 goals with just 6 players. Bring 'em on!!!
