nothing for a per - not in this game

The prompter the refusal, the less the disappointment

As promised, an update on the fate of Per Kroldrup and his return to football in Italy. According to Real Life Blues' man in Italy, who doesn't mince his words "Rome is cool, lots to see but right up there has been highlights of Per being absolute shit for Fiorentina on TV, 2 mistakes he got away with and then gave a penalty away."

In a broader Everton sense, it's tough to know how to feel about 2 weeks off. 4 consecutive Saturdays at Goodison have been hard going, but with 3 wins and a draw, culminating in that superb, and hopefully season defining, win against Blackburn.

So we're on a roll and it's a shame to stop but on the positive side it gives a few players chance to get fit and gives the others a breather. On the fitness front, we are surely reaching a point where the main reason to want Andy van der Meyde to stay fit is so we don't have to keep reading all those 'Van Repairs' headlines. As for the rest, they get to have a jaunt to Florida. Picture a buoyant James Beattie, strutting his stuff in a lemon Miami vice style jacket, wearing shoes with no socks.

Elsewhere another new ground site is mooted, (do we really want or need to leave?) and the frightening prospect of Peter Enckleman is linked as a potential loanee. Poom would be a far more solid option. Also, it looks like we could be going loco in the (new look) Intertoto, hmmm.

Cocking a quick snook at life beyond Everton, the Alex Bruce issue raised it's ugly head again on Monday when Nicky Butt came to the end of his tether. Not sure if having Bruce Jnr in the dressing room is going to do loads for team spirit, especially in the face of an unexpected relegation battle. Elsewhere, comedy manager Claudio Ranieri expresses his interest in the Newcastle job, one of many names linked with that particular poisoned chalice.

Next up on this blog will be a sideways glance at the FA Cup and a hard stare at the latest from Everton.

I'm in the 'Don't get a new keeper' camp. Give Ruddy a game and save some cash. The whole Baardsen fiasco at Whitehart Lane springs to mind.

He did ok vs Blackburn, give him a run. Li Tie can be sub goalie as I'm not sure what else he's doing.

In response to Beefy -

Good point Beef, I'd be happy to see Ruddy continue but we probably need a loan keeper to have on the bench, effectively demoting them to Everton's 5th choice keeper! Still too high for Enckleman though.

Apparently Mr Tie (or should that be Mr Li) is training with China in preparation for a friendly with Palestine (insert joke about the occupied territory in midfield here) or he'd have been right up for it.

Interesting thoughts on the keeper issue - I think we need to bring someone else in. Hasn't Big Nev got some time on his hands? What about our own keeping guru - Woodsy? We might pick someone up in Miami. By the way, how has the karaoke gone? Forget the training, who's been pumping out the big numbers?

Wise words Cat man. See the latest blog for an idea, and yes, I agree it's unfair to call Kevin Kilbane a total James Blunt.
