Only those who dare to fail miserably can achieve greatly. Robert Kennedy

As promised, a quick look at the fortunes of Dimano Bucharesti - the team who unceremoniously dumped Everton out of the UEFA. They also, to all who were at Goodison that night, looked like they'd murdered Mikel Arteta.

After turfing the blues out, they went on to the UEFA group stages, winning only one of four games, their solitary victory being against CSKA Moscow. They lost both to Levski Sofia and Marseille, and drew with Heerenveen, former home of lank haired Georgios Samaras and the current location of that zany kit with red hearts all over it. This left them bottom of the group and straight out. Are we surprised by this? Probably not, Everton were at their lowest ebb for that first leg and it's safe to say if we played them now they'd get a proper doing.

Ironically, their city rivals Rapid are in the 'round of 32' (whatever that's supposed to mean) of the UEFA and won in Berlin the other night against Hertha. Rapid are only mid-table in the domestic league, weird huh. Steaua Bucharest, you know - the team who won our European Cup, also look good in the Uefa having beaten the aforementioned Heerenveen 3-1 in Holland.

At home things are going well for Dinamo, they top the table one point clear of Steuea, and look on course for an 18th domestic title. In line with the blues, they've been on a little holiday of their own in Cyprus, getting ready to re-start the league after what looks like a mid-winter break. One idea we should never ever ever consider here. Winter would be really shite without footy.

Anyway, how are you enjoying your couple of weeks of without having to worry about the blues too much. It's great, isn't it? It does look like Faddy is going to get a new contract, which on balance is just about the right decision. He is a hugely enigmatic and frustrating player, but despite bad luck based on presumably heinous crimes in previous lives (and ones against fashion in this one), he has been showing signs of actually being a forward recently.

That's all for now, over the coming week, Real Life Blues will take a look forward to the Newcastle game. Also, we are aiming to avoid LFC bashing too much, there are plenty of sites which do that. But shortly there will be a quick look at the abundance of ex-Liverpool players and current Liverpool fans (don't click on this link if you are of a nervous disposition) in the media and whether this matters.

Now to watch more curling, tourette's on ice.

That man's head is the wrong shape.

As for Bucharest, lovely city (well apart from the stray dogs and preposterous traffic problems) and me and the Duffmeister had a great time. (top moment being when he thought a streetwalker genuinely fancied him).

I would love another chance to travel. Shame we started the season in November.

Wise words again Beefy. At least we know not to wait until the group stages of anything this year.
