Post Match Musings: Newcastle 3 Bolton 1

Well, you can’t win ‘em all, and a result against a resurgent Newcastle in the cauldron of St. Jimmy’s Park was always going to be a tough prospect. There’s an interesting report in The Guardian where Glenn Roeder bigs himself up as if he’s tempted to send his CV into Soho Square should he not get the job he’s caretaking (funny term, that – I always expect a caretaker manager to be cleaning the toilets as well as giving team talks) as well as the usual rubbish from one of their reporters who suggests that two wins from ten games means the Bolton ship is ‘sinking’ even though we’ve only lost about two in that time! Muppet.

There just didn’t really seem to be enough momentum and passion at large on Saturday, and more than that the intense recent schedule of games was clearly taking its toll. Also, with the Magpies flying high at the moment, it was a bad mix all round, and so it’s now best to move on to our forthcoming test series against West Ham. Full preview later this week…

Some good stories to keep you occupied – The Times looks at Big Sam’s love of sports science; whilst over at Sky the man himself indicates a change in his tactical nous should he get the England or even, heh, heh, Sunderland job.
