Positivity buzzing round Emirates

Crisis at Arsenal? Pfft. Hardly. With two thumping wins in a week, all of a sudden, The Gunners are on track again and ready to fight for the Premier League title. Early in the season it may be, but still jumping TEN places in the table is some achievement. Despite the poor quality of the opposition on both occasions, Arsenal swept aside FC Twente and Newcastle United, on Wednesday and Saturday evenings respectively, with such ease. The flowing football is back, much due to the return of Cesc Fabregas no doubt. But with Robin van Persie bagging his first goals of the season and Adebayor playing a big part in two of the goals on Saturday, the frontline alone is looking good. Not to mention Samir Nasri who, for me, above even the excellent Deco, looks to be the signing of the summer. He has fit in with The Gunners playing style superbly and ahs made the left midfield position his own. With pace, trickery and wide range of passing, Nasri is a nightmare for oppositon defences. Then add in the ever-impressing Denilson (putting the Fulham performance aside) and two good options on the right in Walcott and Eboue, who looks a much better player this season, and you have a strong attacking force.

But for me personally one of the great things to be positive about is the belief, and commitment about the players. Week-in, week-out we see Clichy and Sagna bombing up and down the flanks, giving nothing less than 110%. But it's always a pleasure to hear world class players like Fabregas saying that he loves the club and wants to stay for a long time, and the likes of Nasri, Bischoff and Ramsey expressing their delight at signing for a dream club like Arsenal. It's such a contrast to the England national team. Arsene's gunners always look proud to wear the shirt, and always give their very, very best. But then you see the likes of Gerrard and Lampard strolling round Wembley looking like they couldn't care less.

We've got our main man back already, and, according to Mr Wenger, Rosicky, Silvestre and even Eduardo are not far behind him. I still feel we need a top, top quality midfielder, who I'm confident will arrive tomorrow evening (Deadline Day seems to be Wenger's favourite on his calendar), and then I see no excuse why we can't challenge on all fronts. Manchester United have drawn one game, lost the Super Cup final and just, just scraped a win against Pompey and look completely lost without their golden boy, Ronaldo. Chelsea fans thought their team was invincible after two games. How comically wrong they were when they witnessed the, ahem, mighty Tottenham Hotspur came away with a point from the Bridge this afternoon. Torres picked up an injury for Liverpool, which takes away roughly 40% of their goal threat and 75% of their overrall quality. If we can capitalise on these 'weaknesses' and climb our way to the top of the table, like last season, we have an extremely good chance of bringing the title back home. Keep the faith gooners, and remember: Arsene Knows...

good job. Excellent article. But Wenger has to buy a defensive midfielder with the size, stamina and quality like a player such as Essien. But if Denilson can add a defensive touch to his game then I wont mind too much. Remember we still have Diaby, Ramsey (Carling Cup) and Bischoff.

I must eat what I said in the past few days about Denilson and (maybe) Eboue they both gave a very good footballing display against N'Castle, I do agree with what you've said and DO AGREE ABOUT THAT 1 TOP SIGHNING IN THE MIDFIELD

Until Fabregas gets injured for 6 months and Arsenal have to play with Eboue and Denilson in midfield all season.

Short-sighted is what you are.

First of all, thanks for the comments, they're much appreciated. Baby Gun, I do tend to agree. Personally, I wanted Yaya Toure. His presence alone would scare the opposition. We need that Vieira-type player, to dominate the middle of the park. Essien would be a dream come true, but we all know that'll never happen. I really like Denilson, but I think he'll be cover for Cesc rather than his partner. He's too attack-minded and although he can tackle well, he's not ideal. I think Diaby could do the job, but he's injured far too much, and I'd hope someone will come in tomorrow. James as others have mentioned we have cover. Denilson can take Cesc's place, and we can choose between Diaby, Bischoff and Eboue to anchor the midfield. Remember, Nasri, Rosicky and Toure can all play in the middle as well...

i like your optimism. i'm tired of unnecessarily pessimistic views expressed by so many fans calling for wenger's head. nice article

NO! Denilson cannot replace a injured Fabregas, he even doesn't deserve to be in the first 11. He passing is terrible, he is a liability, he is a time bomb, he is too error prone, he cannot be trusted in important matches. Diaby is unreliable too. Song is the best choice if Wenger fail to buy any player.
