Calling all real gooners... let's pull together and support E-boo-e

The Gunners kept the heat on the leaders with a scrappy 1-0 win athome to Wigan, but the game was overshadowed by some disgusting antics from so-called Arsenal 'fans'.
After replacing the injured Samir Nasri in the first half, Emmanuel Eboue was the subject of some extremely harsh abuse from some of his own supporters. The Ivorian was substituted in the closing minutes of the game, after a string of horrible mistakes.
Now let's get things straight. I'm not Eboue's biggest fan. Never have been. But the abuse he recieved was almost heartbreaking. You can just about understand booing players off the pitch at full time after a shocking performance, but doing so after your own player is having a poor game is not on. Eboue had been injured for over a month and was thrown into the game out of position. He's not going to set the world alight is he?
I realise that some of his errors were really poor but the fans should try and get behind him rather than dismissing him. The ironic cheers when he was substituted summed up the attitude of these supposed Arsenal fans...pathetic. His confidence must be shattered. Although it was very comforting to see Manu Adebayor wrap his arm around Eboue when the number 27 went up on the board. The poor lad was almost in tears when he was replaced, and stormed straight down the tunnel, despite a few back pats of support from Arsenal staff on the bench.
Wenger was quick to explain the situation:
"It was a difficult decision but he had completely lost his confidence, he couldn't keep the ball any more and had become a danger. "I just didn't want the 90 minutes' work to go to waste. The fans contributed. He's a sensitive boy who wants to do well and he cares about the club. It was very sad but the important thing was that we won the game. I can understand him going straight down the tunnel because the crowd were very hard on him."
So I ask all real fans out there: Rather than breaking the heart of a young player who's bound to improve, let's support Emmanuel Eboue. If you're lucky enough to see the next game at the Emirates, sing his name, give him a round of applause, standing ovation, whatever. Let's just let him know that some of us do want him here. With the support of the crowd, his performance will improve. Drown out the boo boys, and get behind the team. Up the Arse!
