Arsenal to build on Bolton win

Posted by Martin in Arsenal, Bolton, Liverpool, Man City | 17 April 2007

O.k so we've got Man City and if we win we take the third position, that is until Liverpool take on Middlesbrough.

It was encouraging to see Arsenal win at the weekend, Rosicky making a real impact on the game. We still had the same old problem with finishing. We created dozens of chances and yet were not able to capitalise on them. Yes Bolton should have a penalty, but they weren’t really in the game and we were the worthy winners.

I think Mr Allardyce may have been a bit complacent. Prior to the match he was quoted to say:

"We don't have the same fears we used to about playing at Arsenal but beating them would probably be one of our best results this season."

This being a side that had not beaten us at home in years and still seemed not to fear playing us at home!

However, an interesting statement and may be one that is now echoed by other managers. We're not "feared" like we used to be.

So Stuart Pearce will be looking for a draw or a win extending his unbeaten run to 6 matches. He's perhaps not so complacent, but just as hungry to win :

"If we can win at Arsenal, it could give them the confidence to remain unbeaten for the rest of the season."

With the season coming to a close, there could still be a few twists yet.

I still believe we can take the 3rd spot from Liverpool, though our remaining fixtures are slightly more challenging than the Merseysiders.

Come on you gunners!
