Arsenal : Howard Webb favoured who?
Posted by Martin in Alex Ferguson, Arsenal, Man United | 3 November 2007
I'm stunned at having just read on Sky Sports that Ferguson felt the ref favoured the gunners!
Having just returned from the match, the general feeling was that Webb was on Man United's side and that most decisions went against Arsenal!
How many times were Arsenal players fouled and not awarded a free kick? Shouldnt we have had a penalty early on in the game?
Not quite sure which game Fergie was watching!
That being said, it was a great match to watch, the first half not quite living up to all the hype prior to the game.
The second half far more exciting, with the Gunners having the majority of the procession, and upping the tempo.
For United, Rooney was definitely their man of the match and for the Gunners, it was a good all round performance. I just love to watch Rosicky play and surprised when he was subbed ten minutes from the end, along with Hleb. Possibly not one of the bosses best decisions!
To come back and take a draw with minutes to spare, in true Man United style was fantastic.
So, we came away with a point and the fans final chants said it all "We are top of the league".
Comments
You must be blinkered. Apart from the odd tackle back, Rosicky gave us nothing.
This is a typical Ferguson tactic. He knows that Arsenal were the better team but he has used Webb to detract away from his teams performance.
agree,
fergie is trying to apply pressure in his typically underhand and nasty way,
blatant foul on Hleb in build up to first manu goal, fergie doesn't mention that,
clear pen not given for us, when hleb pulled down,
adebayor got a lot of abuse from behind and very few free kicks, while at the other end free kicks were given for very minimal contact...
same old fergie always a c*nt
Webb was rubbish.Arsenal players were clattered constantly and got nothing!
Fabregas got booked for winning a tackle.Every time Arsenal got near the mancs Webb gave them a free kick.Fergie played a blinder before the game by saying Webb could favour Arsenal because he seemed to go out of his way to prove he wouldn't.Rosicky was poor IMO and what is the problem between Eboue and Sagna? Sagna did some brilliant overlapping in the 2nd half but Eboue seemed to always cut inside.I think that this is a point ganed for Arsenal and two dropped for the mancs due to the late and deserved equaliser.
its obvious what fergies up to. as a neutral i thought webb probably favoured man utd. just trying to distract attention from the fact that his team is not top of the league.
Howard Webb gave us nothing as per usual. Alex Ferguson needs to keep his mind on watching the game. Utd were lucky to end with 12 men oops sorry 11 men!
Now I know for sure that Fergie is completely delusional. They'd only conceded 4 goals in 11 games and then we put two past them on an off day. That quote about being in "absolute danger" is absolutely disgraceful. Arsenal were not given a penalty on a handball in the box (and his arm was out) and Hleb was fouled on the play that led to their first goal. He says they played good football but their first was an own goal and the second was due to our defensive errors not their "good football". And our first was due to his team standing around and Sagna's hustle to make that great sliding pass to Fabregas. The second may not have been pretty but it was due to us playing to the final whistle and his team assuming they had already won. Perhaps they didn't realize that THE ARSENAL NEVER GIVE UP!!!
Typical Ferguson. He's always been a classless act. Even when I knew him in Glasgow many years ago. Sad really.
I aint surprised at the comments. He wants to win every game.I hope Aw employ two strikers when they next meet so that the old guy will wet his pants.
Ferguson has always put pressure on referees to favour his side and he's at it again. His antics in the first half were a disgrace. His comments are particuarly outrageous given the ref clearly favoured United throughout the game e.g. Vidics foul on Hleb, Evra's block on Walcott, Brown's foul on Clichy. You are wrong about Rosicky-he did not have an effective game and can play a lot better.
I guess ferguson was upset that only 80% of the decisions went their way, he obviously expected 100%.
webb gave them a free kick every time one of our players even looked at theirs, and especially when we looked to be getting some rhythm.
Every 50/50 went their way, and plenty that should have gone our way were either given to them or were ignored.
This is how the "authorities" cheat.
Little decisions keep getting made against us. AW's observation about the fouls and cards last season highlighted the cheating for all to see.
That's why any title or cup Arsenal wins is worth far more than certain clubs who either have their's bought for them, or in this case, given to them by the "authorities".
This is why the fa, fifa and uefa need to be thrown out of the game. They are cheats, and have huge conflicts of interest. there is no place in the beautiful game for these people who are prepared to cheat to get the results they want.
We were still the better team and had more control, we just didn't translate our superiority into goals.
I was also less impressed with Rosicky. For me Cesc and Hleb must start, and I would have prefered to have seen 2 up front for a longer period of time. I would have changed Rosicky for Eduardo.
ferguson knows the gunners are the best in the league. he's only saying this bs in a attempt to bring down our confidence as he's afraid we will be invincible otherwise. wenger knows this and will make sure our kids get even better
word
agreed about all the stuff on ferguson, every descision went their way.
on rosicky, he'll get better after a few more games on the trot. he played ok in terms of keeping the ball moving and making little dribbles. hleb took time, rosicky is next to find his form. then cesc hleb and rosicky will be running riot!
Thank God we now have the internet .. Fergie/Manure owns the press and referees .. and we can at least hear each other agree on what we witnessed with our own eyes .. thanks to the internet.
The english referees association resides in Fergies arse, but he now wants them to give outright guarranttees on outcomes of matches .. perhaps, we may soon start seeing the refs taking shorts or finishing moves or making important blocks to opposition teams ..
Common gunners, they running scared .. lets make sure we spank them for the rest of the season, and perhaps force retirement on that gangster (outrageously refered to as 'sir') .. he is terrible for the integrity of the beautiful game !!!!!!!!!
Howard Webb was a joke in that game, man u got everything even falling over when no arsenal player was near and still got a free kick. the worst thing i saw from the ref was how Anderson waved a hand in the refs face trying 2 get an arsenal booked. he did this for about 30 seconds and got away with it. If that was a player on any other team in the world they would have recieved a yellow!!!!
