Recycling plastics and cardboard

I recently mentioned the advantages of having a primary school teacher in the family, as they can take so much stuff to school to recycle.

But there are always items that even schools can't make use of and now finally, thanks to our local council we are the proud owners of a new shiny blue box. This allows us to hand-over all those plastic and cardboard items that would have hit the local landfill site.

We tried it out this week for the very first time, filling it with cereal boxes, juice cartons, plastic milk containers etc etc.

It seems it's a bit of a learning experience for both the wheelie bin operatives and ourselves. For some reason our box came back with a couple of rejected plastic items. Quite why this happened we have no idea. We've not had any instructions on what we can and can't recycle and so we are left slightly puzzled.

Next week we're going to pass back our rejected items and see if they get taken. You never know!
