Don't forget to use freecycle

freecycle
This week I had my first experience of freecycle. Now I'd like to say that it was my idea to try the service out, expecially since David had already written about his experience long ago here on Real Life News. Unfortunately the credit has to go to my other half for the idea. I'm still a lighter shade of green when it comes to thinking about the environment, but heading in the right direction!

Anyway, we needed to dispose of a pine table and chairs. They weren’t in too bad a shape either. We could have opted for that well know jumble sales site and made a few pounds, but couldn't be bothered with the hassle, so we thought we'd give freecycle a go.

It couldn't have been easier. The freecycle site provides a simple search tool that allows you to find your local freecycle group. A simple sign-up process and then you're away and ready to offer your goods or let others in the group know what you're looking for.

We listed our table and chairs late one evening and the following morning we had loads of requests to take the goods off our hands. All we needed to do was to decide who to let goods go to, arrange a time when they could be collected and job done!

Last night we found ourselves recommending the site to another family member, and we wondered why we hadn't used the service before.

Now all we need to do, is to have a mass clear out of our garage like David and place all those items we've been collecting over the years on freecycle.

I'd recommend it!
