Drivers slowing down to save petrol

empty_282730.gifI read the other day of statistics on UK motorways showing that drivers have slowed their speed in the last few months. The fall in average speed wasn't huge but it was significant enough to be reported.

The recent sharp rise in petrol prices has had a more direct effect on the mass population than the last few years of green messaging. It's hit them in their pockets and they're taking action to minimise the impact on their lifestyles.

One way to do this is to slow down - making your journey more fuel efficient and not only saving money but also reducing your emissions.

I also came across a similar story from the USA. In this article they state that above 55mph every 5mph increase will result in a 7-8% drop in fuel efficiency.
