Low carbon refit

At the Winchester Action on Climate Change meeting on Saturday I got chatting with Pete who's developed a 'low-carbon refit' package.

For a low fee (about £100) he'll identify ways you could save energy at home and do the work needed. From changing out light bulbs to adding pelmets above radiators and installing draught excluders.

It's a great idea but what are the barriers people will have to taking it up? Trust for one - is it genuine, will the workmanship be good, will it really save me money.

The price shouldn't be a big barrier but will still need to be positioned right. Is it a low rate of £100 or free because it will pay for itself in a couple of years?

We're meeting up over a pint to talk about it more. In the meantime, if you know of a similar scheme we could get some ideas from I'd love to hear from you.
