Dubai's hotel CO2 emissions are double Europe's

I came across this interesting fact while writing the last post.

A study has found that the average 5-star hotel in Dubai has twice the CO2 emissions level of it's European counterpart and consumes 225% more energy per guest.

And Dubai's 300 hotels generate a whopping 500,000kg of CO2 between them.

The study was carried out by Dubai-based facilities management company Farnek Avireal who claim the hotels could easily save 25-30% of emissions using energy efficiency.

Sounds like although Dubai is moving towards tourism as an alternative to oil income, it's not worrying too much about doing it in an environmentally-friendly way.
