Earth : The Movie

earth%201.jpgI took my daughter to see Earth at the cinema this weekend.

It's a feature length film movie version of the excellent Planet Earth series from the BBC. We watched it when it was on TV but I wanted to see how it looked on the big screen.

I wasn't disappointed. Fantastic cinematography, amazing shots of a great range of animals from polar bears to elephants, humpback whales to cheetahs.

My daughter loved it and we had a great conversation on the way home about how people need to do more and why they weren't doing it. It was interesting to hear her views on 'that idiot' George Bush and what she'd do if she were Prime Minister/President (basically we'd all have solar panels or wind turbines).

It's struck me recently how the generation following us don't question climate change and are fully convinced of the need to do more to save the planet. Our generation may quibble and hesitate but I'm getting more confident that our children will do better than us.

We just need to make sure there's still a planet for them to save by the time they grow up.
