Making the most of global warming

I was out with a friend on Saturday night who made me smile with his approach to global warming.
Rather conscientiously we went into town on the bus - although we had to get a taxi home as the buses stop running too early - and enjoyed a mini pub crawl around the better bars.
My friend is sympathetic to environmental issues but isn't partticulcarly active - yet. So he outlined his cunning plan.
He wants to install solar panels and a wind turbine on his house to reduce the impact of his family on the environment. However, he doesn't believe global warming will stop so, to make the most of it has bought a convertible and plans to build a swimming pool in his back garden.
I know it's not as green as it should be but I liked this - the idea that you should do your bit but, hey, if it's going to get warmer why not enjoy it.
I didn't have the heart to point out that if we hit the tipping point on climate change and lose the benefit of the gulf stream then the UK is more likely to cool than warm, or that even if the UK does get warmer, we'll be too scared of the increased risks of skin cancer to go out, or that he won't have room in his garden because of all the coastal refugees camping there.
It's a lovely plan and all I need to do is convince him to run the convertible on biodiesel.
