Green tip #10 : Wear clothes longer between washes

green_tips.jpgNo-one wants to be known as Mr Stinky but most people could get away with wearing clothes longer between washes and so consume less electricity.

Many people will wear an item once then throw it into the wash basket. Next time, see if it really is dirty or is starting to hum a bit. If not, air it and wear it again.

I have scruffy clothes that I wear around the house for a week or so then wash. They get dirty but no-one sees them.

I can then keep my nicer clothes for going out. With the restrictions on smoking in public – which used to be the main reason my clothes went into the laundry after an evening out – I find I can often rehang clothes to wear again.

It also helps to have a partner who won’t hesitate too let you know if you are going to far with this.
