Scotty solar charger

I recently took delivery of a Scotty solar charger - an neat device that charges mobile phones, PDAs and MP3 players using solar energy.
I checked it out on the Green Shop and although I didn't see a definitive list of the phones it covered it did say most major phones (including Motorola) plus ipods. So I got it.
Unfortunately the connectors don't fit my Motorola V3. They don't fit any Sagem phones either so I can't charge my wife's phone. It may fit an ipod but it doesn't fit my ipod mini, making the stupid thing almost entirely useless.
Apparently you can get more connectors for it but the Solar Technology website doesn't list any. In fact the web address on the box - www.scottypower.com - doesn't take you to the company website.
Also, now I've found more reviews of the product, it seems it only gives phones a top-up while you are out and about and y need to charge via the mains properly once you're home again.
Following the 4-month wait for the composting bin I'm not having a huge amount of luck with some of my green purchases.
I'm now trawling more sites for the other connectors so I can use the device otherwise I'll have to see if I can return it.
Zero points for the Scotty solar charger in making a difference to my consumption.
