Home-grown harvest

I'm starting to get a regular little crop from the vegetable patch now.

carrot_577360.jpgI picked the sole surviving carrot from the 3 lines I planted and it's a beauty. Typical man, I couldn't resist the urge to measure it. Seven inches long and an inch and a half wide. Quite impressive though I say so myself.

I'm getting a handful of green beans every couple of days (gorgeous microwaved in boiling water for 4 minutes then drained and tossed in sweet chilli sauce) and the tomatoes are really starting to ripen now.

I tried a taste test tonight with a shop-bought cherry tomato and one of mine. Although the shop one was redder, mine had a deeper flavour. Mmm.

Finally, I picked my first sweetcorn. They're supposed to be mini-pops but half of them are on their way to full-size. I'll try them tonight for dinner and see how they are.
