The best Christmas present

One of my favourite words is Schadenfreude - roughly translated from German as taking pleasure from the misfortune of others. I've just read a great schadenfreude news story that has topped off my Christmas nicely.

If you stood to inherit £1.2bn think of all the good you could do with it - the improvements to the lives of others, the support for the environment or the help for those who can't help themselves.

Or you could get staggeringly drunk at parties and take your clothes off to get into the papers, just like Paris Hilton.

Now though, the biggest waste of space may not become the billionaire heiress she expected. Her grandad is giving 97% of his £1.2bn fortune to charity leaving her around £36m. Still a tidy sum but oh joy and hallelulah. Imagine being a fly on the wall when she was told!

Unfortunately this may mean we have to suffer her in the media even more as she tries to make up the shortfall.
