Are you a Moofer?

Posted by DavidM in Interesting stuff | 21 January 2008

It's been a long time since I've been trendy but I've unwittingly become part of the latest group to be identified by market researchers.

I'm a moofer - or mobile out-of-office worker - and apparently I'm part of a new generation. With the growth in laptop usage and availability of mobile broadband services and hardware, more people are doing business online in coffee shops and airports - anywhere but a fixed office.

I often travel to London and access my emails on the train, in a little cafe between meetings and in a bar after work. It means I can stay on top of things during the day and keep the evenings reasonably free for family and social time.

The Times even highlights a new gentleman's club aimed at sophisticated people like myself, combining mahogany furniture with a wi-fi network.

So all hail the rise of the moofer. Stressed out email and web slaves that we are.
