An alternative to Flickr

camera_658966.jpgOne of the most prominent of the new-wave websites is Flickr which has become the definitive photo sharing site for internet users. But while it does have a high profile and a very large volume of photos on the site, it's certainly not the only resource you can use for pictures.

We try and use photos with blog entries to bring the posts to life. With football this is difficult as most player and club photos are under copyright. It's easier on the environment blog and for some time now I've been adding my own images or ones I've found on the web.

The site I've mainly used is stock.Xchng. Although the volume of photos is smaller than Flickr, I find it easier to locate photos that are royalty free. There are also commercial photos though I've yet to pay for anything.

Although usually there is no requirement to give credit, I usually refer to the originating photo as a gesture of goodwill - as I have done below.
