Carling Cup - Is it third rate ?

Posted by Martin in Football blogs | 24 February 2006

Having missed out on the FA Cup, Premiership and Champions League, at least Man. United are still in the running for one piece of silverware, the Carling Cup. Sunday sees Man. United take on Wigan at the Millennium stadium for what is regarded by many, as a less than prestigious cup, except for those teams that reach the final and have nothing else left to win!

It appears that for Man United, the Carling Cup is not one that they have had much success in. In their last five cup final attempts, they have only secured one victory. If they win on Sunday, it will be for the second time in their history.

Whilst United are the favourites to win, Wigan too could provide an upset. You only have to look at recent matches (e.g. Arsenal vs Real Madrid) to know that anything is possible.

So who will I be supporting on Sunday ? Well on that question I will have to leave you guessing!

Thanks.

Do you not think the whole thing would be much more interesting if they wore shorter shorts?
