Portsmouth ease relegation fears

At the bottom end of the Premiership table, Portsmouth's draw against Blackburn has increased their predicted points total at the end of the season.

West Brom are performing as predicted but Birmingham, who only a few weeks ago looked to be in a hopeless situation, have revived their survival chances with a surpising draw against Chelsea and shock win over Bolton. This leaves the current prediction looking like:

  • Portsmouth 34 points
  • West Brom 31
  • Birmingham 31

The next games are expected to finish as follows:

  • Portsmouth vs Arsenal: Arsenal win
  • Arsenal vs West Brom: Arsenal win
  • Portsmouth vs Middlesborough: Draw
  • Aston Villa vs Birmingham: Draw

Two big games for Portsmouth are only expected to net them 1 point. If they can get something from the Arsenal game, or a win against Middlesborough, they will be looking good for safety. West Brom also have the Gunners to face, whereas Birmingham could get more than a draw from an inconsistent Aston Villa.

Cheers
