Google Reports Beta - Early view

Posted by Martin in Comment | 24 May 2007

I have to say that I was slightly surprised when I came to login to Google Analytics the other day and found that they'd launched a new version. I normally keep an eye on what Google are up to and so must have missed their comms around this release.

Anyway, the first time I logged in, it seemed to take a while for the pages to load. At first I thought this was due to my broadband connection, but other sites seemed to be o.k. However, in the past few days the speed seems to have improved, so maybe Google had initial teething problems.

The dashboard does appear to be better than the previous version. I like the way you can "drag and drop" the different reporting components around.

I've yet to work out how I can change the pre-set date range for the reports that appear when you first enter the site.

What I want is just to see the past 7 days. It seems to default to the past month. I've tried the "Analytics Settings", but that didn't help.

I tend to use the "Content by Title" on a daily basis, so being able to have this on the dashboard is great.

So initial view is that it's an improvement, but time will tell.
